Elegant · Plum · Red Cherry · Spice
The Story: 2024 produced a more restrained expression of Shiraz, with cooler growing conditions bringing an earlier harvest and a wine that favours elegance over sheer power.
Red cherry and dark plum sit alongside the natural spice of the variety, with French oak providing a finer, more subtle frame than the American oak used for the previous vintage. The result is a Shiraz with plenty of character and structure, but a lighter touch - expressive without being overwhelming.
Unfined and lightly filtered, the wine retains the character of the fruit and the vintage. Shiraz remains my pet-favourite varietal, and this is a lovely example of what happens when the fruit is allowed to speak for itself, with the winemaker's role being to guide rather than overwhelm it.
Perfect With: Roast or grilled lamb, beef, Middle Eastern dishes with warm spices, or rich mushroom and lentil dishes. Serve at 16–18°C and decant to allow the wine to open and reveal its full character.
