Introduction of Wine Tasting Fee
From September 1, 2025, Short Sheep will introduce a tasting fee at our Micro-Winery. As one of the last wineries in Mudgee to take this step, we’ve resisted for as long as possible.
Traditionally, tastings were about exploring wines to take home, and for smaller producers like us, Cellar Door sales are essential to sustaining our winery. However, increasingly, visits have become centred on the experience itself. A standard tasting of 6–8 wines equates to 150–240ml — around 1–1.5 glasses of wine each, and up to a bottle for a smaller group.
With more visitors enjoying the experience without making a purchase, a tasting fee will help us recover some of the costs of hosting and ensure we can continue offering the intimate, personal, and informative tastings with the winemaker that make Short Sheep so special.
Our Wine Tasting Options
Flock Members and Patrons:
Wine tastings will remain complimentary. However, we do encourage bookings, and if a charge applies at the time of booking, it will be fully refunded with your wine purchase.
Fri/Sat/Sun Pre-booked tastings:
• $10 per person — up to 8 wines
• Plus, spend over $60 on wine and receive 10% off your purchase as our thank you.
Walk-in and Commercial Wine Tour visitors (Max Group Size 8 People):
• $10 per person — up to 4 wines
• $15 per person — 5–8 wines
